Job Summary

Under general direction, is responsible for providing both distributive and clinical pharmacy services such as order review, dispensing medications, preparing intravenous additives and chemotherapy agents, selective drug monitoring, patient teaching and providing drug information.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager Pharmaceutical Services, provides distribution and clinical pharmacy services to all Hospital inpatients and outpatients by dispensing of medications, provision of drug information, developing and monitoring patient specific drug therapy, individualization of drug therapy through chart review and assessment of clinical responses. Collaborates with other health care providers to provide patient centred care and acts as an internal resource person in a predominant work area. Maintains related legal, financial, workload and clinical intervention statistics and records. Provides work direction and/or supervision to designated staff as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Current registration as a licensed Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

PHARMACOECONOMICS PHARMACIST
Position available in Vancouver

Full-Time Relief until July 2005 or return of incumbent

As the expert practitioner, you will conduct clinical and pharmacoeconomic evaluations for the Vancouver Cancer Centre and Communities Oncology Program (COP).  You will also perform clinical duties relating to direct patient care.

 

This will put you in the middle of a stimulating environment where you will find many avenues for research and clinical practice as well as opportunities for specialization. Support is available for further oncology training and you will benefit from close association with an accomplished group of pharmacists working in a wide variety of practice and research areas including health services research, clinical services, complementary/alternative medicines, medical informatics, and didactic and clinical teaching of PharmD candidates.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

  • Completion of a Hospital Residency Program.

  • Advanced degree in Pharmacy (e.g. PharmD or Clinical Masters). 

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in hospital pharmacy, including recent, related experience in a drug usage evaluation management program and a clinical program OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and the public. 

  • Demonstrated clinical skills including the ability to assess therapeutic appropriateness of medications used for the treatment of cancer.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications including the ability to use database and word processing software.

 

SALARY: $5356 to $6679 per month (G15-HSB).
