The Chair will: 1. Review the recommendations of the previous year’s chair and report on how the recommendations were carried out or disposed of. 2. Assume responsibility for recruitment of judges (CSHP members) for awards that will be offered throughout the year. It is recommended that judges represent Vancouver, Victoria and rural areas whenever possible. 3. Attend Executive Committee Meetings. 4. Provide the Executive Committee with written progress reports at Executive Committee Meetings. 5. Present a list of awards that will be offered in the coming year to the Executive Committee by the second executive meeting of the year (Jan). 6. Provide a written report to the Executive committee with recommendations for award recipients for the September (those that are available) and October (any remaining – Publication, Hospital Residency Award) committee meetings. The Executive Committee will be responsible for the selection of the winner of the Distinguished Service award. 7. Chair the Awards portion of the Annual General Meeting. 8. Liaise with the Fundraising Chair to ensure funds are secured for the Travel and ACLS awards 9. Update the Branch Manual yearly with regard to awards offered and Terms of Reference. 10. Assist the incoming Chair, with respect to responsibilities, when the term of office is complete. Duties: The Chair shall: 1. Once award judges have been selected write each individual expressing appreciation for judging. Include a copy of the specific award’s Term’s of Reference. Documents for the publication awards and residency project award will be couriered to the judges at least 2 weeks prior to the award deadline (October 1 at latest). 2. Write all sponsors, thanking them for their contributions to the Branch. 3. Executive Reports: Make enough copies or email reports to all members (~15). Original to go to secretary. 4. Contribute to the Branch Bulletin or news mailings when appropriate to announce calls for submissions, award recipients, committee members, call for committee members, etc. 5. Issue a “Call for Nominations” for awards with the Spring/Summer mail out through Communications Officer. 6. Arrange for the presentation of PPC Travel Grant, Astellas Canada ACLS awards, Hospital Pharmacy Residency Award, Past President award, and BC Branch Residency Award by respective company representatives or award nominator if required. 7. Arrange for the purchase and engraving of award plaques at the AGM. 8. Request from the Treasurer, well in advance, the cheques for any cash awards to be given out the day of the AGM. 9. Notify the Program Committee Chair of award recipients who are entitled to a complimentary registration for the AGM. 10. Chair Awards portion of the AGM: o Communicate with the Programs Committee as to how many awards are to be presented, equipment required, time required, etc. o It is the Chair’s responsibility to decide if a representative will present the award or if the award will be presented by the Chair (see individual award descriptions for details and guidelines). o Arrange to have a brief biography of the recipient for introduction purposes

Inform award
recipients of the award to be presented, informing them that they o Award recipients will be awarded free registration to the AGM. 11. Announce Branch award recipients in Provincial and National Pharmacy Publications (Branch Bulletin, College of Pharmacists of British Columbia Bulletin, Canadian Pharmaceutical Journal, the Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy), 12. Review the recommendations of the previous year’s chair and report on how the recommendations were carried out or disposed of by providing written report to Executive Committee by Jan meeting. 13. Provide a written report to the Executive committee with recommendations for award recipients for the October committee meetings. 14.
